Qualifications and work experienceI studied the English language in the Netherlands and at the university of Cambridge. Between 1981 and 1992, I lived and worked in New Zealand. After returning to the Netherlands, I studied to become a translator (English <> Dutch), and I did a NIMA communications course. In New Zealand I mostly worked for commercial companies. Since 1997 I have been working in a scientific environment, and since 2008 I am employed as in-house English-language editor at the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency.

Which leaves the small matter of the name...Dunfield Editing was named after Dunfield Cottage, the New Zealand farmhouse, in which I lived in the 1980s, and where I spent some wonderful years with my family.I was told that the previous owners had named the farm for the colour of the fields; at the end of summer, the dry weather would turn everything to a dun colour; it is a type of light grey-brown, a beautiful earthy colour.
